Most hubs do one job and sit in a cupboard. The Hub 2 is on a wall or a shelf because it displays temperature and humidity, and while it is there it works as an infrared blaster for air conditioners, televisions and fans, and as a light sensor that can trigger automations at dusk. It supports Matter, so it hands SwitchBot devices to Apple Home, Alexa or Google without lock-in. Over eleven thousand ratings at 4.3 stars is a lot of agreement. It is not the choice for someone who wants everything running locally, because SwitchBot's own automations still route through its app and servers.
Buying advice
This is the one to buy if the actual problem is an air conditioner with a remote and no app. As a general-purpose hub it is weaker than the Aqara M3 and it is not trying to be one, so buy it for the infrared and the sensor and treat the hub function as a bonus.
